Students asked to hone communication skills

Speakers at a workshop underlined the need for honing communication skills to get through the interviews.

Speaking at the one-day workshop on communication skills organised by the English Department of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala here on Monday, college principal T. Vijayalakshmi said that students should concentrate on improving English language.

Stating that students, particularly from rural areas, are poor in communication skills, Dr. Vijayalakshmi said the students should read newspapers and update their knowledge to face the challenges in the competitive world. Head of the Department of English M. Nalini said the students should focus on improving language. Director R.K. Singh, staff members K. Sailaja Rani, K. Sarala, Jyothsna, Ch. Prathiba, and K. Sasi and students participated.

Seminar

Andhra Layola College principal A. Francis Xavier has said seminars and symposia will help students enrich their knowledge. Speaking at a seminar on ‘New Frontiers in Scientific Research' in the college on Monday, Fr. Fransis said the seminars would bring out the talent of youngsters.

Former Chemistry Department head K.V.V. Rama Sastry, Prof. J.J. Vijaya, and Prof. N. Ranesh of Bits Pilani spoke about green chemistry, nano technology, and polymeric composites. College correspondent Fr. Shourayya and others participated.
