March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

A Standard VII student was tied with ropes at the BC Welfare Hostel in the city when he reportedly tried to run away from the hostel.

According to sources, the student was bundled with ropes, and detained, as he made an attempt to escape from the hostel located at Gangireddula Dibba. The Childline staff admitted the boy in the hostel a few days ago.

Krishna District BC Welfare Deputy Director Ch. Lakshmi Durga said the inmates tied the hands and legs of the boy on Thursday and informed the matter to warden, Vijay Kumar.

“We conducted an inquiry into the incident and the incident occurred when the warden is away from the hostel. The boy was handed over to his parents. A report would be submitted to the District Collector,” Ms. Lakshmi Durga said on Friday.

Meanwhile, rumours spread that the hostel warden tied the boy and bet him up severely for violating his orders.

“A detailed inquiry is under progress into the incident,” said the Deputy Director.
