An engineering student, Mandala Chandrashekar (19), reportedly suffered electric shock while he was removing the charger from his mobile phone. He died while undergoing treatment in a hospital on Saturday.

The Ibrahimpatnam police said, the victim, from Tamadam of Vajrakothur mandal in Srikakulam district, was studying third year Electrical and Electronics Engineering in R.K. Engineering College, near Ibrahimpatnam. He was staying in the college hostel. “Chandrashekar connected his cellphone to the charger. After having bath, he tried to disconnect the charger and suffered shock”, a police officer said. A case has been registered and information was passed to his parents.

The body was sent to Government General Hospital (GGH) mortuary for autopsy.
