An Intermediate first year student was debarred from writing his examination after he was caught cheating in Sanskrit examination at ANR College in Gudivada, Krishna district, on Thursday.
Barring this single case of malpractice, intermediate examinations by and large went off peacefully. Senior Intermediate students will write their first examination (Sanskrit) on Friday.
The Board of Intermediate Education, Vijayawada, has made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the examinations that commenced on Thursday. Of the total 62,690 candidates, 60,444 of them wrote their test in the general category while 2,246 were from vocational segment on Thursday.
A total of 60,233 candidates were present. Of them, 58,318 represented general category and1,915 were from vocational.
On the first day of the exam, a total of 2,457 candidates were absent. Of them, 2,126 were in general and 331 were in vocational.
The squads visited 53 of the 147 examinations centres in the district on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Thursday, Regional Inspection Officer, Board of Intermediate Education, Vijayawada, P. Brahmanandam, said the last date for submission of applications for setting up new private unaided junior colleges had been extended from February 28 to March 15. Mr. Brahmanandam said those opting for online applications, March 31 was the last date. He said after completion of the online process, applicants must submit hard copies attested with two sets of documents at the RIO's office.
