Rich tributes were paid to freedom fighter and former Chief Minister Tanguturi Prakasam at his native Vinodarayunipalem village of Naguluppalapadu mandal in Prakasam district on Tuesday on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

In Vijayawada, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu paid tributes at the statue of Tanguturi Prakasam and vowed to strive for the development of the State in the path shown by the departed leader, who had spearheaded the struggle for Independence in Andhra Pradesh.

At Andhra Kesari’s native place, Social Welfare Minster and district in-charge Ravela Kishore Babu, State government’s Advisor (Communications) Parakala Prabhakar, A.P. Brahmin Welfare Corporation Chairman I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, and Collector Sujatha Sharma garlanded the statue of Prakasam and felicitated freedom fighters hailing from the village.

Addressing the media, Mr. Kishore Babu said Prakasam Pantulu’s birth anniversary was being celebrated as a State festival and that the Chief Minister wanted the village to be developed into such a place that would make people remember Tanguturi Prakasam forever.

Strike to realise his ideals

Mr. Prabhakar said people should strive to realise the ideals for which Prakasam Pantulu had sacrificed his life.

The government would develop Vinodarayunipalem so as to keep its memories alive for posterity.
