‘Steps afoot to improve State hospitals’

Steps are being taken to improve the Government Hospitals and extend the kind of services available in some corporate hospitals to the poor, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu has said.

The MLA laid the foundation stone for the new ENT block to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.50 lakh in the old Government General Hospital in Hanumanpet here on Sunday.

The MLA said that the State Government had in all sanctioned Rs.9 crore for construction of buildings to improve amenities in Government Hospitals. Giving a break-up the MLA said Rs.1.10 crore had been sanctioned for the building of a psychiatry ward building and Rs.2.08 crore for a mother and child ward building.
