Rural SP J. Satyanarayana instructed his officers and staff to gear up for the panchayat elections to be conducted soon in view of the possibility of violent incidents taking place.
In a crime review meeting held here on Wednesday, Mr. Satyanarayana said a close watch needed to be kept on explosives dealers and sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incident.
Counselling should be held for rowdy-sheeters and ‘trouble-mongers’ bound over to ensure that peace prevailed. A watch had also to be kept on persons released from jail.
The SP also instructed the officers to concentrate on safety of women and children, particularly girls, who were more vulnerable to attacks than ever before. Functioning of family counselling centres and court liaison officers should be improved.
NBWs should be executed promptly and due focus laid on investigating cases of missing persons. Crime meetings should be held every month at the sub-division level to keep stock of the situation.
OSD Surya Prakash, DSPs Venkatarami Reddy, Y. Tulasi Ram Prasad, Jagadeeswara Reddy, Puja, Bhaskar, and Vara Prasad, APSRTC Regional Manager P.V. Rama Rao and others participated.
