Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Chairman L. Venugopal Reddy has expressed hope that talented youth from the State will land plum jobs, as several multinational companies are planning to set shop in the State.
Mr. Reddy described Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visits to Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and other countries as fruitful, adding that business tycoons from those countries had agreed to invest in the State.
He was participating as the chief guest on the concluding day of the Start-up Weekend programme, jointly organised by Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU), Global Business Incubator (GBI) and NASSCOM at Vaddeswaram on Sunday. Mr. Reddy said KLU was the first university in the State to conduct such a programme to encourage young entrepreneurs.
“Japanese and Swiss firms have evinced interest in investing in the State. We need more than one lakh people who speak Japanese in the next five years. I advise institutions to offer such courses, and youth should make use of the opportunity,” he said.
KLU president Koneru Satyanarayana said the university was at the forefront of promoting young entrepreneurs and exhorted students to set goals and work with dedication.
University vice-president K. Raja Hareen termed the start-up event a platform for students to share their ideas with experts in various fields and shape their plans for future ventures.
GBI chairman Srinivas Gogineni said as many as 112 students from various colleges had come up with 76 ideas. Of these, 29 were shortlisted for incubation.
KLU is providing a financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh to each budding entrepreneur, he added.
