With the deadline for ‘Bhumi puja’ (ground breaking ceremony) of the capital fast approaching, the State government is making all out efforts to pool land for capital construction. Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana said the government will go for land acquisition, if farmers do not part with their lands under land pooling.

Farmers have given consent letters for parting their lands to the tune of 33,000 acres under land pooling. A few have approached courts due to internal disputes among brothers and a few against the procedure of pooling. But majority of farmers are willing to give their lands under land pooling, except for those owning 800 to 900 acres. “As there is no option, we will acquire the required lands as per rules,” said Mr. Narayana.

Speaking to media persons at CVR Municipal High School, where he interacted with students undergoing foundation course here on Saturday, Mr. Narayana said the next step will be signing of development agreement between government and the farmers. Presently, document verification and aspects pertaining to survey numbers mentioned in the documents are being verified to avoid disputes in the future.

All the 29 deputy collectors and teams of officials assigned the job have completed verification of 16,900 acres till Friday. By month-end, verification pertaining to 20,000 acres will be completed and by June 15, 25,000 acres verification would be done. Verification of the rest of lands will be done based on the court verdicts, he said

All efforts are being made to ensure that farmers got their share of properties (post development), including residential and commercial in their respective villages and not elsewhere.

On the funds to develop and take up capital construction works, Mr. Narayana said the Central government has already sanctioned Rs.1500 crore and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is rigorously pursuing the issue with the Centre. Most of the works would be taken up under Public Private Partnership mode and other models and such modalities were being worked out, he said.
