The State government has decided to offer a few services in the government run hospitals through the public private partnership and outsourcing mode as part of efforts to offer quality healthcare to people.

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said the government was spending huge money on equipment, manpower and providing experienced doctors in government hospitals, yet the service extended to people was found to be poor. He was addressing a district-level review meeting held at new Government General Hospital here on Wednesday.

He promised that service extended in government hospitals would be on par with corporate hospitals by introducing reforms in the health sector. All efforts were being made to strengthen primary health centres and very soon all the vacancies, especially doctors and other staff would be filled, said Dr. Srinivas.

He wanted doctors to maintain punctuality and attend their duties as per schedule and warned that stringent action would be initiated against those, who fail to maintain punctuality or skip their duties.

Post bifurcation, the State was facing tough times, especially due to financial deficit but efforts should be made to offer quality treatment to people within the limited resources available. Top priority should be given to sanitation and cleanliness in government hospitals and contractors, who neglect or fail to maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the hospitals will be punished accordingly, said Dr. Srinivas.

He instructed authorities to invite MP, local MLAs, Mayor and other public representatives to the Hospital Development Committee meetings.
