Following the outbreak of bird flu, the Animal Husbandry department has taken up a series of measures to prevent entry of poultry products into the State from Telangana.
In coordination with the police personnel, the department is keeping a close watch on vehicles transporting poultry products.
“We have asked the policemen to immediately stop vehicles that are entering the district from Telangana with poultry products,” said department Joint Director T. Damodar Naidu on Wednesday. Flexi banners were also put up on A.P.-Telangana borders informing that entry of poultry products into the State was banned.
“We are leaving no stone unturned in enforcing restrictions. An advisory will also be issued to owners concerned on precautions to be taken at the poultry farms,” he added.
According to officials in Telangana, an estimated 1.45 lakh birds would be culled within the radius of a kilometre of the infected poultry farm, which has been declared an infected zone, as per the standard procedure prescribed by the Central government.
