The Government has failed to supply textbooks to Intermediate students though their classes have commenced, All India Student Federation City general secretary Ch. Raghuveera said on Thursday.

He blamed the Government for the delay in the supply of textbooks and wanted the process expedited.

Communist Party of India city secretary Donepudi Shankar organised a padayatra in the Division 44 of the city. Addressing the public at Bhanunagar, he said that the VMC was yet to regularise the houses of the residents of the colony despite several promises made by the Government.

He urged the VMC officials to look into the matter immediately. At another meeting convened by the women’s wing of the party A.P. Mahila Samakhiya, its state secretary P. Dugra Bhavani pointed out that the Government lacked sincerity when it came to implementation of welfare schemes for women.

The Government was trying to water down the PDS by implementing the cash transfer scheme, she said. She also said that women were losing precious time and livelihood by running behind Aadhaar card registration and opening of bank account.
