Swaraj Maidan (PWD Ground), the venue of the second ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ being conducted by the Krishna district Samaikyandhra JAC has been named after the first Chief Minister of Hyderabad Burgula Ramakrishna Rao and Telangana Armed Struggle hero and founder of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Puchalapalli Sundaraiah.
Addressing a press conference at the venue of the meeting here on Thursday, Krishna district JAC chairman and NGO leader A. Vidya Sagar said that all arrangements for the meeting had been completed.
Mr Sagar said APNGO Association president P. Ashok Babu and other leaders of the movement against the division of the State and experts on irrigation and electricity would explain the consequences of the division of the State, he said.
He said the parents of the students, who would be mostly hit by the division, farmers who would be affected by division of the State because they would be denied water to raise crops, Government employees and the women, folk who would be badly affected, should turn up in strength for the meeting and show their solidarity.
Asked if any political leaders were invited, Mr Sagar said that no special invitation has been extended to any including the elected representatives.
However, all elected representatives who attended the meeting would be given due importance.
A relay fast was organised near the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium for the success of the Save Andhra Pradesh meeting being held here on Friday. Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, former deputy mayor Sripurapu Gritton and former PCC secretary Kolanukonda Sivaji visited the camp and expressed solidarity to the Samaikyandhra movement.
Schoolchildren sat in formation to form the letters “SAVE AP” near Kanakadurgamma Varadhi urging all to attend the meeting. Teachers JAC set up kitchen in front of the Sub-collector’s office in a “vanta-varpu” programme.
In a statement, Samaikyandhra Political JAC convenor Kolanukonda Sivaji said that Samaikyandhra activists were seeing TDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna as a hero because he was the only leader who had the guts to resign from Parliament.
