SSC public examinations off to a smooth start

The first day of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations was a smooth affair in Krishna district on Wednesday. Of the total 58,903 enrolled candidates, 58,265 appeared for the exam while 368 of them were absent.

As many as 286 exam centres were set up across the district and of them, 81 centres were inspected by officials who fanned out to different directions to monitor the arrangements.

District Collector Babu A. visited two centres -- Zilla Parishad Boys’ High School at Patamata and Sri Viswa Bharati Vidya Niketan, also at Patamata, the Sub-Collector inspected an exam centre at Ibrahimpatnam, district-level observer K. Chandrakala visited four centres while the District Education Officer K. Nageswara Rao inspected three centres. Besides, flying squads went around 72 centres to ensure peaceful conduct of the exams.

‘No malpractice cases’

“No case of malpractice was reported from any part of the district,” said DEO Mr. Nageswara Rao.

Meanwhile, the Collector directed the officials concerned to exercise zero tolerance towards any attempt of malpractice in the exams. He said mobile phones, calculators or any other electronic gadgets should not be allowed inside the exam centre.

Wednesday being the first day of the crucial exams, most students arrived at their centres much before the stipulated time. At many places, teachers, along with parents, were seen wishing good luck to their students. Many students were seen murmuring prayers softly just before receiving the question paper, pleading with the almighty to guide them.
