There were French braids, twists, flips, ponytails, pigtails, plaits, knots, and much more. Some opted for tight and crisp hairstyles, while some others preferred a romantic ‘tousled’ look in a braid that looked super cute and very trendy.
The bunch of young enthusiasts sporting different hair styles and flaunting them in front of the cameras that went on a clicking spree, were part of Spoorthi 2012, literary and cultural festival of Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada.
Innovative event
The campus was abuzz with the spread of events across the day keeping boys and girls busy in some activity or the other. An innovative event calling for different hairdos had the participants showcasing a range of hairstyles that included short and long hairstyles, updos, buzzcuts, perms and use of interesting hair colours.
Confidence stressed
South Central Railway PRO F. R. Michael, an old student of the college, addressed the students on the occasion. Stressing the need to respect one’s mother and Motherland, he shared some of his experiences as a student of this institution with the audience.
Mr. Michael complimented the college management for providing this kind of a platform to students for their all-round development. He said making use of these stepping stones, one could scale great heights in future. “Opportunities knock at the doors of every individual but only a few recognise it and make use of it,” he said and emphasised that achieving confidence and dynamism was essential in this age of cut-throat competition.
Cultural events
E. A. R. Laya, the guest of honour, enthralled the audience by whistling to the tune of a few patriotic songs.
Principal G.A.P. Kishore said students of ALC were divided into 10 departmental associations that would showcase their talent in the two-day festival.
A series of activities will keep the students busy in events like quiz, rangoli, mime, singing, skit, dance, flower arrangement, essay writing, debate, painting and collage making.
Dean N.A. Francis Xavier, Rector D. Ravi Sekharam, student representative P.W. Wilson Rosario and others were present.
