Special GO sought to give compensation to tenants

Bharatiya Janata Party State president MR. Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday stressed the need for a special government order to enable tenant farmers to get compensation for flood losses directly.

Mr. Dattatreya, who visited flood hit areas in Ibrahimpatnam and Krishnalanka, said that the proposal to route compensation to tenants through landowners was “not practical”.

A special G.O. should be issued to pay the compensation directly. The BJP leader distributed rice, dal and bedsheets to flood victims in Ibrahimpatnam and Krishnalanka.

Addressing a gathering, he said that the compensation for crop should be fixed at Rs. 15,000 an acre.
