Special children take peace pledge

A large number of students, teachers and people from various walks of life participated in a peace initiative organised by the Lions Club of Vijayawada in the Gunadala area on the occasion of World Peace Day on Wednesday.

Blind, deaf and dumb, orphan and physically challenged children drawn from various schools in Carmal Nagar, Gunadala and Machavaram areas, students of Madonna Junior Degree College, Vijaya Mary Integrated School for Deaf and Dumb, Bishop Grassi High School, St. Joseph's High School, Hindi College, a school run by the Hariath Lion and Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences were made a part of the peace drive.

The students then took a pledge to do their best to promote world peace. A few teachers spoke about the significance of the day.

Secretary of the Lions Club C.S.S. Sastry and others coordinated the programme.
