Over 350 persons, against whom suspect sheets have been opened in police stations across the Guntur Urban Police District, were summoned by Superintendent of Police Ch. Vijaya Rao for a special ‘counselling’ session.

The counselling is part of a series of initiatives taken up by the Guntur Urban Police in dealing with those having criminal history and has come close on the heels of the murder of Basava Vasu recently.

Mr. Rao, along with DSPs and SHOs, said in no uncertain terms that men with rowdy sheets should stay away from acts of violence. The police would not hesitate to crack down on any violence,he said and told them to maintain peace in the city.

Mr. Rao said that no one should leave the town without prior permission of the Station House Officer and should present themselves before the police every two days.

The police should also keep a watch on their lifestyle and record every movement, he said.
