Smoke gives anxious moments

January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:12 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Smoke emanating from an APSRTC CNG bus triggered panic among the passengers at Chilakallu near Jaggaiahpeta in Krishna district on Monday morning. Noticing smoke in the rear, passengers raised alarm and immediately stopped the bus and all the passengers alighted safely, authorities claimed.

The bus, belonging to Governorpet depot, was heading to Vijayawada from Kodad and after reaching Chilakallu, smoke emanated from the bus at around 8 a.m.

Though the investigation is on for detecting the reasons, preliminary enquiry suggest it was due to friction in the break drum. About 25 passengers were travelling in the low floor bus
