Smita to croon ‘Namo’ tune

April 04, 2014 11:29 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 08:33 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Smitten by the political charm of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, pop sensation Smita plans to launch her new album ‘Wake Up India’ endorsing Modi’s candidature.

The Hai Rabba girl is planning a grand launch of the album at the Vijayawada club here on April 8. The five-and-half-minute song, both in Hindi and Telugu, talks about development that has ‘failed’ to take place even after years of Independence.

It speaks of degeneration of values and seeks to remind people of what the British had predicted while handing us the long-awaited Independence.

“I frequently visit Ahmedabad on business and I am mighty impressed by the good work done by the Modi government there,” says the singer.

“He is the apt ‘Nava Bharat Nirmatha’ (architect of New India), ,” says Smita’s mother Jogu Prasad, who recently joined the BJP. Smita’s last album was Ishana done for Ishana Foundation. ‘Wake Up India’ CDs are meant for commercial purpose and they can be downloaded free of cost. The lyrics are by Ananth Sriram and Smita and her team has conceptualised it. Sameer Reddy is the cinematographer.
