Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam is contemplating shifting the ‘Smartha Pathasala' being managed by it to Sitanagaram in Guntur district. The pathasala is presently being run from a house located near Gosala downhill Indarkeeladri, the abode of goddess Kanaka Durga. The Devasthanam is constructing dormitory halls at Sitanagaram for the benefit of the pilgrims. The authorities have planned to shift the pathasala to one of the halls that are being constructed there. The Devasthanam received a few complaints pertaining to water and lighting at the present location. The dormitory halls being constructed are spacious and have good ventilation, besides having abundant water facilities.
Devasthanm in-charge Executive Officer (EO) M. Raghunath said that they would send a report to the Endowments Commissioner briefing him on the situation.
The pathasala would be shifted as soon as the Commissioner accorded permission. The halls were likely to be ready in all aspects in the next 10 to 15 days. At present, 54 students were pursuing various courses in the pathasala, he said.
Asked about the missing of important files, Mr. Raghunath said that he had asked all the sections to make a list of files related to Personal Registers (PRs). Preliminary information pointed to four files in the establishment section missing. While three of these files related to disciplinary action, the other one pertained to the Charge Transfer Certificate that the earlier EO was supposed to hand over to him, Mr. Raghunath said, adding that an inquiry would be instituted after receiving complete information.
The process was likely to be completed in a day or two. It may be recalled that Mr. Raghunath, the EO of Penuganchiprolu Tirupatamma temple, assumed charge as EO (Full Additional Charge) of Indrakeeladri amidst a minor controversy over absence of Charge Transfer Certificate. The outgoing EO, N. Vijay Kumar, was stated to have forgotten to hand over the CTC to the staff here before leaving for Srikalahasti to take charge as EO there. Both outgoing EO and the newly-appointed EO would have to sign the CTC.
