Experts at the inaugural of a two-day seminar on ‘finite element formulations for nano structures' held at the VR Siddhartha Engineering College here on Friday said that there was always a wide scope for research in the area of properties and behaviour of material.

They highlighted the importance of finite element analysis in understanding these aspects. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the VRSEC organised the seminar sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology. About 150 members, who included faculty and students, participated in the national seminar from various engineering colleges.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal K. Mohana Rao said that the first paper ever to be presented on nano technology was way back in 1963 and this was on aircraft structures.

He spoke about the importance of composite material in defence and aircraft.

College convenor M. Rajaiah, who is vice-president of the Siddhartha Academy, said that more seminars and workshops should be organised in order to increase the awareness of students and faculty in various aspects. J. Suresh Kumar, vice-president of Lanco, spoke as chief guest.
