Seminar on ‘green chemistry' held

Excessive use of chemicals is endangering the environment, Principal, ANU College of Sciences, B. Syama Sundar said here on Friday. Delivering the inaugural address at a seminar on “Green Chemistry- Our Life and Our Future,'' held at Mahatma Gandhi College, Dr. Syama Sundar said that green chemistry was a conceptual offshoot of man kind's quest for safe handling of chemicals. Awareness about environment has been on the rise since Environment Protection Act was passed in 1985, he said. Environmental Engineer, APPCB, Guntur, K.L.P. Kumar said that electronic waste was emerging as a potential form of pollution. Executive Director of the college, DLK Ratna, director of seminar, M. Gopala Babu and faculty members C.S. Kamala and Suneetha were present.
