Seminar on advanced computer networks organised

Popular traditional applications ‘www’ and ‘e-mail’ based on request/reply paradigm were dealt by professor of CSC department of Dr. B.V. Raju Institute of Technology, A. Jagan.

At a one-day “Advanced Computer Networks and Applications” seminar, in Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology, he explained to the students about protocols such SMTP and HTTP in his morning session. In the post-lunch session he started with “Multimedia Applications” such as telephony and videoconferencing which require their own protocols like Real-time Transport Protocol, Session description protocol and Simple Conference Control Protocol.

The session was continued with concepts of “Infrastructure services” which use some of the protocols that essential to the smooth running of the internet. He also dealt with certain basic concepts like Domain Name Service, name resolution and gave tips regarding Network Management.

In the last session “Overlay Networks”, certain routing algorithms, end system multicasting and a brief outlook on peer-peer networks were discussed by Mr. A. Jagan. He ended the session with rapid round questions where students were given a chance to interact with the resource person and clarify all their doubts.

Director, Principal, Dean and HoD of IT S. Kishore Babu expressed his gratitude to the resource person and ALIET Director Rev.Fr. Thainese appreciated the organisers for conducting such useful seminars at regular intervals.
