Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja is likely to visit the city in the next couple of days.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials are making necessary arrangements for her visit following a communication received from her Ministry. She is expected to inaugurate the houses constructed at New Rajarajeswaripeta under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). As many as 1,184 units would be inaugurated on the occasion.
The VMC officials also plan to rope her in to lay a foundation stone for water supply scheme, a shopping complex and a multi-purpose community hall at Jakkampudi.
The houses were constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 crore, while it would cost Rs. 7 crore for the creation of infrastructure like roads and water supply at New Rajarajeswaripeta.
