The First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Tuesday ordered the seizure of properties belonging to Chanumolu Rajiv, who contested as a candidate of the Praja Rajyam from the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat in the 2009 general elections, in connection with a cheating case. The court gave an opportunity to Rajiv, who is absconding, to surrender before it on or before May 21.

An advocate from Krishnalanka, Murthy, lodged a complaint with the Machavaram police on March 12, accusing Rajiv of cheating him to the extent of Rs. 40 lakh by offering him the post of a judge. The Machavaram police registered a case of cheating against Rajiv and another person by name Gangadhar.

Though the police managed to arrest Gangadhar and produced him in the court, they were unable to arrest Rajiv. The court issued a non-bailable warrant against Rajiv and quashed a recall petition filed by him.
