Opposition parties reacted swiftly to the arrest of Kadapa MP and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) demanded that the government seize the properties of Mr. Jagan.

Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, a close aide of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, also should be arrested immediately. The Ministers who had a role in issuing 26 controversial GOs should also be arrested, he said.

Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) district secretary R. Raghu said that the arrest was expected. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), now, should question the Cabinet Ministers, who were party to the GOs to prove its credibility, he said.

Communist Party of India (CPI) city secretary Donepudi Sankar said that the CBI had done its job. The arrest proved that none was above the law, and corruption should not be supported or encouraged, he said.

YSR CP district convener Samineni Udayabhanu said that the arrest had uncovered the evil designs of Congress leaders.
