Every individual must deem the ongoing polio immunisation drive as a social responsibility and contribute for its success, incharge Collector Gandham Chandrudu said on Sunday.

Speaking after inaugurating the second phase of the Pulse Polio drive at the primary health centre in Patamata, Mr. Chandrudu said 90 special teams had been constituted to cover ‘high risk’ areas.

Krishna District Medical and Health Officer Y. Kameswara Prasad, special officer Naga Malleswari and other officials were present.

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, meanwhile, organised the drive at various centres across the city. Local Corporators monitored administration of the vaccine to children below five years of age at a kalyana mandapam in New Postal Colony of Patamata, Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium on Bandar Road, Mohammed Alipuram Municipal Urdu School at Winchipet and Karnati Ramamohan Rao School at Suryaraopet.
