Telangana State Director of Medical Education (DME) P. Srinivas, along with NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Vice-Chancellor T. Ravi Raju, monitored the first phase of counselling for admission to P.G seats.
He expressed satisfaction that the candidates had no problem in obtaining admission to colleges of their choice as the merit order was strictly adhered to and other guidelines followed scrupulously.
Addressing the media, Dr. Srinivas said the seat matrix and fee structure were the same as in the undivided State as the NTRUHS continued to cater to both A.P and Telangana States.
There was no issue with nativity of candidates as the old system was still followed in which a candidate had studied four years prior to the qualifying examination and if the candidate studied abroad, the place to which his/her parents belong to were taken as the criteria.
Dr. Srinivas said there were 515 seats in government colleges affiliated to Osmania University and 286 in private colleges to be filled under the convener quota, apart from 269 management seats. The seats are to be filled by July 10 according to the instructions of the Medical Council of India and those not filled before the scheduled date will remain vacant till the next academic year.
On the first day of counselling on Wednesday, more than 400 candidates were allotted seats, in compliance with the rules laid under the G.O 42 and 88 of the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare.
