SCR GM reviews facilities for pilgrims

South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager P.K. Srivastava and Divisional Railway Manager Pradeep Kumar jointly inspected passenger amenities at Vijayawada station on Wednesday along with other officials from the SCR headquarters.

At a high-level meeting with heads of various departments later, Mr. Srivastava expressed satisfaction that targets of loading and earnings for the division were being achieved, and that the SCR had won accolades of Prime Minister for cleanliness of Secunderabad station, loading at Krishnapatnam port and development of passenger information system at Secunderabad.

He congratulated Vijayawada Division for earning recognition as ‘Adarsh Division’ in the entire Indian Railways in implementing the Raj Bhasha. In the morning, Mr. Srivastava, Mr. Pradeep Kumar and other officials inspected the facilities being provided at Rajahmundry station for the convenience of people who would be participating in the ‘Godavari Pushkarams’. 

They emphasised the need for availability of clean and pure drinking water at stations and onboard trains. They checked booking counters and approach to various platforms and suggested sign boards indicating various amenities should be provided at vantage points. The GM also visited Godavari and Kovvur stations on the way to Vijayawada. Additional DRM N.S.R. Prasad and top SCR officials including J.N. Jha (Chief Operations Manager), Srihari (Principal Chief Engineer), Kabir Ahmed (Chief Mechanical Engineer), J.S.P. Singh (Chief Electrical Engineer), Lakshmi Narayana (Chief Commercial Manager) and S.P. Sahu (Chief Safety Officer) were present.
