Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Mandali Budha Prasad has presented ‘Dantu Bhaskara Rao Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award’ to renowned scholar Salaka Raghuantha Sarma at a programme held at Dantu Kalakshetram here. The award presentation ceremony was combined with the valedictory of the 21-day theatre workshop conducted by the Young Men’s Happy Club, in association with the State government’s Creativity and Cultural Corporation and the merger of Andhra Seva Sangham theatre troupe into the club.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Budha Prasad called upon the theatre technicians to make better use of the available technology and come out with novel plays and play-lets. Observing that there was huge scope for the theatre to get updated, he said that there was no dearth of support from the State government. “The workshop is the first of its kind one being supported by the State government. The government is keen on conducting similar workshops in the other districts too,” he said. Referring to ‘Totto Chan,’ a Telugu play-let performed by the students of the theatre workshop, he said that the message-oriented play-let was designed and executed in a laudable manner. City Mayor Sunkara Pavani, MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, and president of the Young Men’s Happy Club Dantu Surya Rao were present.
