Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission Chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad inaugurated a mobile book exhibition launched by the EMESCO Books near Viswanadha Satyanarayana statue in Governorpet here on Saturday.
The mobile book exhibition is a minibus with books arranged in racks like in a regular book exhibition or shop. “It is not enough to read just textbooks. Reading all types of books is needed for the all-round development of the intellect,” Mr. Buddha Prasad said. Lauding EMESCO Books for launching the book exhibition on wheels, Mr. Buddha Prasad said books were now available only to city dwellers. Such mobile book exhibitions would take great works in Telugu to people living in interior villages. He lauded the efforts of EMESCO Books in promoting Telugu language. The history of Telugu language in the form of paintings commissioned by the firm for the World Telugu Conference held in Tirupathi was unique, he said.
EMESCO Books managing director D. Vijayakumar said the primary objective behind the mobile book exhibition was to make good books available to readers in interior villages. Andhra Pradesh Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Turlapati Kuthumba Rao said, “EMESCO is one of the oldest publishing houses in the State. It published the autobiography of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao The Insider .” He also appreciated the book on freedom fighters. He said the firm was publishing 150 to 200 titles every year. The first book was purchased by booklover Nimmagadda Ramprasad. Mr. Buddha Prasad also paid tribute to the statue of Viswanadha Satyanarayana, the first Gnanpith award winner.
