Members of the city-based Chakri Charitable Trust on Sunday called on people to save the rupee by embracing ‘desi’ lifestyle and shunning products offered by multi-national companies.

They took out a procession to spread awareness on the need to reverse the plummeting Indian economy. The volunteers walked in a rally on Bandar Road holding a banner which read:

“We are not against multi-national companies. We want to save our nation. Be Indian, Buy Indian”.

They also distributed pamphlets to the passers-by highlighting the banes of the rupee devaluation.

The pamphlet said each individual could contribute his/her mite in improving the country’s economic scenario by exercising a few simple steps.

One must shun products thrust on us by multi-national companies and embrace indigenous products for our own good, the pamphlet said.
