The State government on Thursday appointed senior most IPS officer N. Sambasiva Rao as in charge Director-General of Police.

The incumbent Director-General of Police, J.V. Ramudu, will be relived from the post on July 23 on superannuation. Mr. Sambasiva Rao, who is at present the Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and one of the senior officers in the rank of Director-General of Police, is given full additional charge as DGP. He will continue as in charge DGP until further orders, a GO by Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker stated. The order puts an end to rumours over extending Mr. Ramudu’s services up to the conclusion of Krishna Pushkaralu.

Mr. Sambasiva Rao is a 1984 batch officer and is due to retire in December 2017.
