Activists are to close all entry and exit points to Vijayawada city from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon.
All entry and exit points to Vijayawada will be closed by the activists of Samaikyandhra movement from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday as part of the highway bandh programme.
Samaikyandhra JAC Krishna district leaders said on Monday that no vehicle would be allowed either to come in or leave the city from 10.30 a.m. to noon.
Human chains would be formed and rasta rokos staged mainly at Kanakadurgamma Varadhi, Gollapudi Y Junction, Milk Factory flyover, Ajitsinghnagar flyover and Benz circle, the leaders said.
The JAC released a poster in connection with the Rythu Garjana programme being held in Hanuman Junction on Gandhi Jayanthi Day, October 2. JAC honorary advisor Akkineni Bhavani Prasad, farmers’ leaders Chalasani Anjaneyulu and Alla Gopala Krishna released the posters.
Earlier, activists, led by JAC members, went in a rally from Siddhartha Arts and Science College and enforced the private and government educational institutions bandh. The JAC said that no institute would be given exemption from the bandh being observed from September 23 to 30. Some educational institutions that opened despite the bandh call were asked to shut down.
The NGO leaders said that arrangements were being made to get advances from different financial institutions for NGO Association members who have been on strike for over a month now.
The Government and Aided Kalasalala Samaikyandhra JAC in a statement expressed concern over the Central government’s decision to go ahead with the note on Telangana and the statements being made by the Central Ministers who were pushing for the formation of Telangana.
JAC honorary president Velaga Joshi said in a statement that the committee strongly denounced the attitude of the Central Ministers.
He said the JAC would work hand in hand with other JACs and fight against division of the State.
Activists of the Visalandhra Mahasabha staged a dharna in front of Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal’s house and demanded that he join the people in fight against the division of the State.
