Sale of medical seats will be probed by CID: Kamineni

August 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 12:29 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Friday said that allegations of sale of B category MBBS seats in private medical colleges would be investigated by the Crime Investigation Department (CID).

Addressing media here after the Cabinet meeting, Mr. Srinivas said the media was agog with such reports of malpractice and corruption and there were complaints that came to his notice too.

The alleged ‘sale of B category seats’ might be due to the scope given by separate admission process (M-CET) adopted by the State government this year.

College managements have the right to fill the seats which fall vacant due to cancellation by students, under NRI quota, but certain guidelines are to be followed.

“The chance for irregularities would be examined in details and necessary remedial action will be taken, the Health Minister said and warned that the unscrupulous colleges would be black-listed.

The allegations will be probed and unscrupulous colleges will be black-listed.
