RWS official's assurance to contract workers' union

Steps are being taken to regularise the Panchayat Raj RWS and CPWS Contract Workers.

Krishna district Panchayat Raj RWS and CPWS Contract Workers Union president Ch. Koteswara Rao in a press release here on Tuesday said that RWS Superintending Engineer B. Sampada Rao told a delegation of the union that all contract workers would be brought under the provisions of the Minimum Wages Act.

Mr Koteswara Rao said several persons were working as contract workers in permanent establishments without minimum wages, weekly offs, paid holidays, earned leave, EPF, over time, ESI, uniforms, and cycle allowance.

The Superintending Engineer responding favourably said he would give instructions to the officer concerned immediately.
