RTC to woo commuters with ‘Seeghra Darshan’ scheme

July 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:08 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) which has been successfully wooing commuters through a slew of passenger-friendly measures has done it again.

As part of its mantra of using every trick in the book to galvanise the public transport giant that has accumulated huge financial losses, the corporation this time chose the pilgrims as its target.

Promising a hassle-free pilgrimage and immediate ‘darshan’ to visitors who travel by RTC buses to Tirumala, it has put in place ‘Seeghra Darshan’ scheme.

In collaboration with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the Corporation officials have introduced a new facility from August 1. Under this, people going to Tirumala will have the facility of buying a ‘Seeghra darshan’ ticket worth Rs. 300 along with RTC ticket.

The ‘darshan’ tickets will be made available in all APSRTC reservation counters, authorised agents’ counters and online. The TTD will facilitate ‘darshan’ of the Lord to them in two batches, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., everyday.

APSRTC Executive Director (Operations) G. Jairao said people who buy the ‘darshan’ tickets must approach the RTC staff posted at the Balaji bus station at Tirumala two hours before their scheduled time.

The staff will take them in a special bus to the temple and ensure a hassle-free immediate ‘darshan.’

Mr. Jairao urged people to make use of the facility.
