The Vijayawada region of APSRTC is operating 230 special buses to Rajahmundry and over 30 buses to Badrachalam from different depots in Krishna district from July 12 night, for the convenience of those wishing to participate in Pushkarams.
Extra fare
The non-AC buses would be operated directly to Rajahmundry and Bhadrachalam but passengers will have to pay 50 per cent extra fare since they were special buses, said RTC Vijayawada Regional Manager P.V.Rama Rao.
These buses would be operated in addition to the 40 regular services to Rajahmundry from Vijayawada daily. Authorities expect nearly 50,000 passengers to travel everyday to Rajahmundry from Krishna district during the Pushkarams.
On the need to conduct tour packages on the lines of Andhra Pradesh Tourism, Mr. Rao said tour packages would not be feasible to corporation. “There will be heavy rush during Pushkarams and we have to operate many buses. If tour packages are conducted, then buses will have to be stationed at Rajahmundry till the passengers return the next day. We can’t ensure proper fleet utilisation,” explained Mr. Rao.
