Members of the Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry have appealed to the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to extend bus services up to the IT Park and the airport at Keesarapalli near Gannavaram, the two important destinations that play key role in development of this region.
In a letter to K.V.R.K. Prasad, Regional Manager of the APSRTC, the Chamber president Muttavarapu Murali Krishna, pointed out that the IT Park and the airport were important landmarks besides the veterinary college located on the highway.
Commuters had to walk for a long distance to reach the IT Park and the airport, located away from the highway.
Mr. Murali Krishna suggested that all metro and air-conditioned buses plying on the NH 5 towards Gannavaram and beyond (in both directions) may be routed through the IT Park.
Route
After hitting the highway, the buses could take the four-lane road leading to the entrance of the IT Park, stop briefly and take a left turn through another road to return to the highway for its onward journey.
This would pave the way for employees and other staff of the IT Park to utilise the services of the RTC buses passing on that route, he felt. Drawing his attention the travel woes of the staff of the Airport Authority of India (AAI), he said that apart from the passengers (close to 500-600 every day), staff of four airlines companies was in need of a bus service to the airport terminal building.
Timings
As the passengers and staff would require margin time, the buses would have to operate to the airport from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Elaborating on the road map, he said that the RTC buses could start at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station and reach airport via railway station, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Ring Road, Ramavarappadu Circle and NH 5.
