With complaints rising from citizens over the poor response its employees to their pleas, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in the city has re-launched the “Any counter- Any work” on Monday.
Unlike the earlier practice of approaching a particular counter at the RTA office for getting learner licence, permanent licence or any other transaction, applicants can now approach any counter.
The service was launched few years ago but was suspended for the reasons better known to the authorities. But, now with complaints from applicants over poor services, the RTA has re-launched the service to streamline the functioning of the office. At times, applicants are made to run from pillar to post to perform different transactions such as vehicle registrations, fitness renewals and others.
The RTA office here has eight counters in the ground floor and eight more on the first floor. The service will enable applicants to get their things done comfortably at any counter. Everyday, 400 transactions are performed at the office and two senior Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) have been entrusted with the job of coordinating and monitoring the work flow at the counters, said Deputy Transport Commissioner S. Venkateswara Rao.
“We have done minor changes to our software to launch the service. We are imparting training to staff to execute any transaction from any counter,” said Mr. Rao.
Stringent action
In case applicants face any inconvenience, they can approach Regional Transport Officer Purendra and lodge a complaint. The department will initiate stern action against employees, he warned.
