Rs. 30 cr. for lifting water to save rabi crop

The Water Resources Department has approved payment of Rs. 30.30 crore to three private companies for making arrangements for lifting water from the Godavari river at five different locations to save standing crop during Rabi , according to a government order issued on Monday.

The order MS No.67, dated June 27, 2016, stated that the Government had approved the payment of amounts ranging from Rs. 2.50 crore to Rs. 23.35 crore for lifting water from drains in the Godavari delta at Dongavaripalem in West Godavari, Velicheru, Juttikapadu, Vanapalli and Vemagiri in East Godavari.

Payment of Rs. 23.35 crore was approved to the Placebo Engineering Corporation for building of cross bunds and lifting water at three points from the river into the Bank Canal at Dongavaripalem (Rs. 15.49 crore), to the Central Delta Main Canal (Rs. 4.86 crore) at Velicheru and to the Eastern Delta Bank Canal at Vemagiri (Rs. 3.00 crore).

Payment of Rs 4.45 crore was approved for building of cross bund and lifting water at Juttikapadu into the Gannavaram Canal of Central Delta and Rs. 2.5 crore lifting water into the Bank Canal of Central Delta at Vanapalli village.

The order said that the works were awarded to these firms on nomination basis.
