Members of Pratyeka Hoda Vibhajana Hameela Sadhana Samithi (PHVHSS) on Tuesday said that a roundtable will be held on March 19 in Vijayawada to chalk out a plan of action to achieve the much-needed special category status (SCS) before the end of the ongoing Parliament session.

Samithi convener Chalasani Srinivas appealed to all the political parties, interested in the development of Andhra Pradesh, to join hands to bring pressure on the Central government for the SCS.

“Keep aside your differences. Come together as the issue concerns the future generation of the State. Without SCS, we will not able to build the new capital city and achieve progress,” he pointed out. He also said the those refused join the fight would be treated as traitors.

He supported Telangana Chief Minister's K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s outburst against the Prime Minister on the funds allocation and objected selecting Ahmadabad for the establishment of Heritage City by neglecting historical places like Amaravati and Hyderabad.

CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna took objection to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s promise to create a second capital in Anantapur. “He is igniting regional passion which will not augur well for the welfare of the State.”

He advised the Chief Minister to dump NDA and join the protest. “In fact, he should lead the fight to finish keeping in view the self-pride of the Telugus,” he pointed out.

Indefinite fast

Film Actor Sivaji said that he would launch indefinite fast in Amaravathi soon to achieve the SCS. “This will be a do-or-die fight. Many like-minded people will join the protest,” he added.
