Investigators in the case of daylight robbery at a school in Patamata are clueless about the identity of the accused even after the entire act was captured by the CCTV cameras on the school campus.

They are looking for the footage outside the school to find out if the accused had followed them from the house of the victim or resorted to the act after sighting the girl at the school. The available footage only revealed the act inside the school.

“CCTV footage revealed facial identity of the accused. He seems to be a local miscreant. We are trying for footage near NTR circle to confirm he belongs to place of the victim. Footage of any camera on the route to school could help,” a police official said. “The accused do not belong to school,” he added.

On Friday, P. Gopinadh, father of a Class V girl in Nirmala High School, lodged a complaint with Patamata police that the necklace worth Rs. 5 lakh adorned by her daughter was stolen by an unidentified man in the morning in the school premises.

It was the girl’s birthday and she went to school wearing jewellery and civil dress.
