The Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RJUKT), IIIT Nuzvid, will take up admission based on the grade point allotted in Class 10 examination.

Following the directions of the government to conduct admissions on grade points, the IIIT management has written to the university for clarification.

Speaking to The Hindu on Monday, Nuzvid IIIT Director Imrahim Khan said that as the SSC Board has announced grade points for 10th standard students, the RJUKT has decided to take up admissions on grade points only.

“We wrote to the Government for clarifications on grade points and also on the marks to be given for rural students who studied in government schools. Once we get clear instructions on admissions, we will begin the process,” said Prof. Khan.

Last year, the university management added 4 per cent marks for students who studied in rural government schools. We asked the government to clarify on the percentage of marks to be added for government school students, who hail from rural areas, the IIIT director said.

After one month summer vacations, classes in Nuzvid IIIT began on Monday, and several students were seen returning to the campus with their luggage. The IIIT campus which successfully completed four years, began classes for fifth year.

The institute is offering six-year integrated engineering programme, including two-year intermediate and engineering courses in computer science, electronics and computer engineering, mechanical, civil, chemical and material science.
