The scorching heat conditions prevalent in the city are leaving people fuming and fretting with the day temperatures touching 40.3° Celsius.

This is forcing many people to stay indoors afternoon while others, who are venturing out to attend their duties, are depending on fruit juices, ‘lassi’ and lemon and coconut water to get relief from the rising heat. Kiosks set up by several philanthropists and politicians at intersections to serve free cold water came in handy for motorists and passers-by for quenching thirst.

The Met Department officials said that the day temperatures have been increasing gradually from April 24. It was 33.2 ° Celsius on April 24 and touched 40.3 ° Celsius on Saturday compared to 40.1 ° Celsius on Friday and 41.2 ° Celsius on Thursday.

Officials said the same temperatures would likely to prevail till the likely onset of southwest monsoon by June first week.
