Marxist Tarimela Nagi Reddy's 35th death anniversary was observed here with the CPI (ML) organising a meeting at the Freedom Fighters Bhavan. The leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of Nagi Reddy on the occasion.

Addressing the meeting as chief guest, former agriculture minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao on Thursday said that Nagi Reddy was a brilliant intellectual having a full understanding of the socio political and economic aspects of the country during his time. He quoted Nagi Reddy as having said that Indian financial condition would be debt-ridden.

Mr. Rao informed that Nagi Reddy had shown his utmost talent in his capacity as one time MP, three times MLA and also in his term as the member of the Public Accounts Committee. He said that during the 1971 hearing of the Hyderabad conspiracy case, Nagi Reddy made a statement in the court that the interests of the country were mortgaged to foreign countries in a very bold manner.

CPI (ML) Central committee secretary Polavarapu Jaswanth Rao said that Nagi Reddy fought a relentless struggle against the landlord system and he did not spare even his father in his fight for the rights of the landless poor. He said that Nagi Reddy opposed extreme tendencies of revolutionaries and always made efforts for building the movement with focus and commitment.
