RGUKT students bag prizes at Nasa event

RGUKT students design plans for space settlement

Students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) Nuzvid IIIT won laurels at the NASA Ames Space Settlement Design Contest-2014. As many as 30 students of International Institute of Information Technology, Nuzvid, participated in the 33 annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC) organised by the National Space Society (NSS) in Los Angles from May 14 to 18. “This is the first time 30 students of the institution attended the ISDC meet. Last year, 12 students participated in the contest,” said Nuzvid IIIT director Ibrahim Khan.

A project titled ‘Al-Hasa’, which was designed by K. Jhansi won the first prize in the individual category, while another project, ‘Akasha’, done by P. Chandrashekar, K. Akhil and M. Manasa of the university bagged the second prize in oral presentation.

Some other projects designed by the students on ‘journey to space,’ ‘creating alternative living on space,’ ‘settlement on space,’ and others have won prizes, said Prof. Khan.
