The State government has decided to allot four acres in the Capital city/CRDA area to national political parties and recognised State political parties having more than 50 per cent strength in the Assembly, as per the revised policy approved by it on Thursday.
The government declared the parties with strength ranging from 25 per cent to 50 per cent in the Assembly as eligible for up to half acre. Parties having below 25 per cent strength but at least one member in either of the Houses (Legislative Council or Assembly) are eligible for 1,000 square yards. As far as the allotment in the district headquarters is concerned, national political parties/ recognised State political parties with more than 50 per cent strength in the Assembly will be eligible for up to two acres, those with strength ranging from 25 per cent to 50 per cent up to 1,000 square yards and if the strength is below 25 per cent but the parties have at least one member in either of the Houses, they can get up to 300 square yards.
As per the G.O MS No. 826, the land will be given on lease for 33 years renewable up to 99 years if a party survives for such a long period, for a lease rent of Rs.1,000 per acre per annum.
