Leaders of Kula Vivaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangam (KVPS) demanded that the government amend rules in Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes and Tribal Sub-Plan Bill, to avoid misuse of funds.

The Sangam leaders alleged that within a few days after the Bill was passed in the Assembly, funds allocated for the SC and ST development, were misused in 11 districts in the State.

In a meeting held here on Friday, KVPS Krishna District secretary said that on the pretext of purchasing electronic material, the officials diverted funds given for uplift of SC and STs. To avoid diversion of funds, the Government should amend the rules in the Bill, he opined. Sangam Employees Federation convenor T. Prabhudas said the sanitation workers in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) are suffering due to non-payment of salaries for the last few months, and demanded the contractors to pay wages immediately.
